Duffel Bag: A large bag usually used for travel or sports. The name comes from Duffel, a town in Belgium where the thick cloth used to make the bag originated. Duffel bags are often used by sailors, and are sometimes called sea bags in this capacity.
Envelope bag: a flat, square or rectangular bag with a triangle-shaped top flap that folds over like an envelope.
Feed bag: bag that is used to feed an animal (such as a horse); covers the muzzle and fastens at the top of the head.

Minaudiere: a small evening bag embezzled with pieces of metal, semi precious stones or beads or covered with fabric or leather.
Muff: a winter bag made of real or faux fur, wool or velvet that has zippered compartments and a slip opening for your hands.
Saddle Bag: a large bag (or pair of bags) hung over a saddle. Many designers use saddle bag as an inspiration for their designs. Therefore, their bags are called saddle bags, even though they are not actually saddle bag.
Satchel: A structured handbag with double handles, locking hardware and a wide, flat bottom. May be large or small.
Shoulder bag: any bag with a shoulder strap.
Sling Bag: A bag with a long strap (similar to a messenger bag), yet smaller.
Tote Bag: A medium to large bag with two straps. Sometimes sold as a reusable shopping bag, this bag can carry anything that is too large for a common handbag – also called a ‘Shopper'.
Weekend Bag: A bag of a size to carry clothing and personal articles for a weekend trip.
Wristlet - a clutch shaped bag that comes with an attached leather or bracelet-looking strap allowing you to hold your bag and dance freely.

Introduction
Hardly there might be anyone, who is not aware of BAGS. Simply saying, bag is a non or a semi rigid container made of cloth, paper, plastic, leather or some other kind of flexible stuff, that is used to carry ones belongings. They are such a common commodity of use in our day to day life that they seems to be a part of our life. So let's discuss some common and uncommon facts about the bags.

Origin and Advancement of Bags
Bags are as old as the Egyptian pyramids. According to some historical piece of literature, they were first used in the 14th century. The possible reasons behind such an ancient invention of bags may be the utility they provide and the ease of their production. Bags are as important today as they were at the time of their invention. However, today they have undergone a complete change. Now they have become more advanced, useful and attractive in comparison to their ancient counterparts. Today's bags are more or less a fashion symbol and not only a goods carrier.

Bags have really come a long way since they had been used for the first time. Modern bags can carry not mere simple commodities but much more. Some advanced types of bags are used to carry small babies, while others are used for sleeping purpose by travelers. Generally speaking, bags have not only become more fashionable, but also, more user friendly.

Types of Bags
As we have discussed much about bags, let's get aware of their various varieties in use nowadays. Few common types of bags in use at present are as mentioned below:

1) Fashion: These bags are decorated with various types of stuffs. They are made keeping in view the elegance and style, than anything else. Fashion bags are mainly used by ladies. Some of their examples are beach, cosmetic and wedding bags.

2) Shopping: As the name suggests, shopping bags are used for shopping purposes. They are relatively spacious and durable in nature. Some retail chain stores and other such organizations manufacture customized shopping bags for their regular and occasional customers.

3) Advertising: These type of bags have a logo of a company or an organization printed on them. They are widely used by various business organizations and educational institutions for advertising purpose.

4) Corporate: These bags are generally used by office goers, sales persons and executives. They are convenient to carry and provides a lot of space for files, documents and other office materials. They are mostly made of soft leather and cotton.

5) Utility: Utility means the quality of being useful. This is the only consideration behind manufacturing of utility bags. The bags under this category are used for carrying numerous things like compact disks (CD), cell phone, lunch, note books, tools, wine bottles etc. For each item there is a particular type of bag, best suited for carrying that item.
6) Travel: Travel bags are used for traveling purposes. They are mainly used by tourists and adventurers to carry their belongings of specialized and general use. They are spacious and durable. One of the most common type of travel bag is a backpack.

In addition to the above mentioned types, there are various other types of bags in use nowadays. But, we have already discussed above, the types which were worth considering. Thus, we will not indulge ourselves in the trivial discussion about all other types of bags.

Conclusion
To conclude, we can say that bags are an essential item of our day to day use. At least, the shopping lovers can better understand this fact. Can you imagine of a fabulous shopping experience without your favourite shopping bag ? Rather, can anyone imagine of a life without the bags ? I know your answer. It's 'absolutely not', isn't it.
